Paper Description

Edit Paper Description Content

An examination of the general principles of the law concerning natural and physical resources, sustainable development, pollution control, town planning, and Treaty of Waitangi principles.

This paper focuses on the principles of environmental law (e.g. sustainable management); it examines how the principles are expressed through regulation of the oceans and freshwater, climate change, dangerous substances and activities, and the protection of biodiversity; and analyses the implementation, adjudication, and compliance techniques used to achieve environmental protection.

Te Piringa Faculty of Law places great emphasis on providing students with opportunities for high achievement in law papers. Attendance at lectures either in person or by Zoom is therefore recommended for satisfactory completion of the paper.
